Who wins the war in Skyrim?

If you look at the two sides of the war, you will see that the empire is most likely the winner. For one, no matter which side you choose, Jarl Balgruuf and Whiterun will go with the empire. Assume that if the Dragonborn sides with the Stormcloaks, he is most likely a Nord.
