How do I stop Windows 7 from configuring updates?

Fix #5: Perform a Clean Boot

1. Restart the computer and log into your Windows Vista or 7.
2. Click Start.
3. Type msconfig.exe in the Run field.
4. Press Enter to access msconfig.
5. At the General tab, select Selective startup.
6. Uncheck Load startup items.
7. Check Load system services.
