Why is my Steam client 32 bit?

Steam uses a single package for each operating system family (Windows, macOS, Linux/SteamOS), which contains all executables. If you download a game on Steam and it doesn’t work on a 32-bit operating system, the game doesn’t have a 32-bit version. There’s nothing you can do except upgrade to a 64-bit OS.
